The 280 acres of Esthwaite Water are set slightly back from the road with a shoreline car park on the route between Newby-Bridge and Hawkshead. It is a popular venue for anglers and would-be anglers who go to fish for the trout and pike, in, what is considered to be one of the best fishing waters in the north west of England.
Here, you will find boat and rod hire, tuition, and a special childrens area of “kids, catch your own”. There is disabled access to a facility offering hot and cold meals with seating at the waterside. The non-fisher can take walks along the shore, or, just sit and take in the scenery of this most pleasant location.
Contact the Tourist Information Centre for details of bus services which operate as far as Hawkshead.
Windermere is the nearest rail station.
